The train

If you look very carefully you can see the train I missed after my twelve and a half working day. Today I'm feeling more grumpy than arty

I heart Lausanne

I really do, I love the slight grubbiness, the random characters and the indie vibe (around the area of Flon)

Day one

Pilatus - its so peaceful especially when you cant see the ground

New direction

I'm stuck for blog inspiration at the moment, so I have decided I'm going to post one image per day and write something about it.

Ticket machines

It always bugs me when after typing in all their details people are shocked that they then have to pay for a ticket. Like the ticket machine is not the magic one that was handing out free tickets yesterday. Then after about 5 seconds of disbelief and just as my train is running in they decide to get their wallet out.

the boy on the bus

I catch the bus every weekday to work and on that bus there is a fairly cute guy. It took him seven (yes seven) months to start talking to me, I go away for one week and we seem to have reverted back to politely nodding at each other. I will never understand the swiss mentality.... ever :(

Scaffolding............

Took a trip  to Strasbourg yesterday, its beautiful. I have a question though.... do the french love scaffolding?

Here is the famous cathedral (note the scaffolding)
(I would change the orientation but sideways pictures are my thing and .. I don't know how to do it. Do I teach computing? Oh yes I do!)

The egyptian house and the glorious use of scaffolding.

if you look very closely you can see the pharoah's

The famous Dam that is on every picture of Strasbourg

Can you see it? No that is because it is covered in scaffolding!

It is a beautiful city though, very much like a big version of York shambles if you have ever been there. Didnt go to the European parliament, its probably covered in Scaffolding right now.....

I have been inspired..........

I have been back in Switzerland for a week and have been inspired by my friend Krystal's blogpost at www.avillagetown.com to post about my first trip home.

When I was speaking to people about my first vacation home the responses I got were either it was going to be amazing or a complete mindf..!  I like to think it was a mix of both.

It was amazing to see my family especially my godson and his older brother, who was more excited about angry birds than seeing his "aunty". It was also amazing to see my friends new twin daughters and to see my friend who has just found out she it expecting. It was also really exciting to hear about my friend Nic's wedding plans. However,  it was also very strange, suddenly I could understand everything everyone was saying, I nearly got run over looking the wrong way on the street and everyone was the same but some how I felt a bit out of the loop.

So here is my list of things I miss -

Shops - so much choice and the abilty to express your individuality through clothing
Tesco - for choice in food and cheap prices (and its less minky than asda)
Family - it was really difficult when my godson didnt recognise me
Real ale - so much nicer than der stange's
Cars - being able to drive in a car

Things I dont miss

Chavs - minkers hanging around the shopping mall acting cool
snow - and Scotlands complete inability to deal with it
My old job - speaking to the friend I used to work with its actually got worse
Ellon - the same people in the same pubs pulling the same people (surely its not doing the gene pool any favours!)
Accent - OMG I would like to kill the Aberdonian and Aberdeenshire accent

Hope 2011 is as great as the end of 2010
